The Thai government has vowed to continue its crackdown against 'Red Shirt' protesters after rejecting their call for UN-mediated peace talks. At least 36 people have been killed in the last four days, in violence that was triggered by the shooting of a renegade army general. Local media reports say he's now dead. A state of emergency has been declared in more than 20 provinces across the country. The 'Red Shirts' have been demanding the premier steps down and calls fresh elections.
