Syrian opposition fighters form new military brigade in a northern town near the Turkish border.

Around 800 members of the new company of the Free Syrian Army are calling themselves the "Swords of Sham" or the Swords of Syria.

After months of slow progress rebels captured several army positions in the last week.

They also aim to take the 20-month-old revolt to the heart of Damascus the seat of President Bashar al- Assad's seat of power. They have dubbed this week "March to Damascus Week".

Right groups say at least 38,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began in March 2011.
