World wide demos on latest Gaza violence

Smoke rises on the skyline as day breaks in the Mideast... Israeli bombing continues to hit targets in Gaza after days of fighting.

Around the world, both pro Palestinian and pro Israeli demonstrators took to the streets.

In New York's Times Square, more than one hundred people gathered to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) RACAN ALHOCH, A PROTESTER WHO'S SYRIAN AMERICAN, SAYING:

"Palestine does not have a military. The population of Gaza is over fifty percent children. They are no military targets in Gaza. We don't know who they are attacking."

On the other side of the world in Sydney Australia, supporters of Israel stood face to face with Palestinian supporters .

And in Seoul South Korea, protesters gathered in front of the Israeli Embassy.

One human rights activists told Reuters:

(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) SECRETARY GENERAL OF CITIZEN'S SOLIDARITY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, OH CHANG-IK, SAYING:

"They should not force Palestine people to sacrifice. Children should not be killed anymore. All the children are precious whether they belong to Israel or Palestine. They shouldn't be dead due to the massacre. We urge the Israeli government to regain its rationality."

At least 19 Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed in the fighting so far.
