Strikes intensify in Syrian town of Ras al-Ain

Rebels take cover as Syrian government forces bomb the town of Ras al-Ain on Monday.

Across the divide, cameras catch the echoes of a plane overhead as well as a plume of smoke rising.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that 12 people, including Islamist militants, were killed in the attacks, while another group claimed 16 had died.
Earlier, residents could be seen fleeing for their lives as government troops try to retake the town, which was captured by the Syrian Free Army on Thursday.
Intensifying violence has spurred Syrians in the area to seek refuge in Turkey since last week and heightened tensions between the two nations.
Ankara confirmed it had retaliated for stray gunfire and mortar rounds fired into Turkish territory as of late.
It is also talking to NATO allies about deploying surface-to-air missiles around the border.
