I want to walk with Jesus Christ - Chris Lawton at All Saint's Church, Intake, Doncaster

Me playing the organ at All Saint's Church in the Intake area of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

The organ was built for the then new church in 1958 by the John Compton Organ Company Ltd. Sometime during the 1970s, the organ was overhauled by C. Wren. The whole organ being a Compton is fully enclosed (with the exception of some basses) and works on the extension principal using 4 ranks of pipes. It is installed on the rear gallery of the church along with the detached stopkey console. The specification reads:

Compton of course were famous for their cinema organs in the 1930s so perhaps it is no surprise that this organ boasts a fantastic cinema organ sound when the tremulant is used! I was so impressed with this that I decided to abandon what I had originally prepared and play the jazzy hymn tune 'I want to walk with Jesus Christ'.

Many thanks to Jean Ware for allowing me access to this fantastic Compton organ.

NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on dailymotion.
