“With the addictive freshness of his sound and dense stream of productions, it’s easy to get the feeling that he’s a new player on the scene, but YOGGYONE (who hails from BesanÁon, France) already had his fill of music experience before finally landing in the beat game…
At the age of six, he entered the music academy, where he remained for about a dozen years, then traded in his alto violin for a drum kit (in a funk band) and tried his hand at other brass instruments as well. Quite rapidly, his self-taught philosophy and insatiable curiosity would lead him to venture further from well-travelled paths.
He followed the evolving new beat generation with great enthusiasm, deep in the early days of Indie labels Anticon, Def Jux, Stones Throw, artists like Antipop Consortium, Lex or Dimlite. Current influences include Shuggie Otis, Herrmutt Lobby, Muhsinah, Ad Bourke, John Robinson, Flying Lotus, Hearin Aid… Not only limited to his main weapon of choice, the MPC,
this prolific pluri-instrumentalist can be heard remixing artists like As Everything Goes…” via bandcamp
YOGGYONE really knows how to crunch bits and sling rubber basslines. His music contains scattered 90′s sampling,backed by some chewee afro-cuban perccussion woven together nicely by stark ambient textures.
YoggyOne, fer de lance du label Eklektik records, a fait ses débuts sur la scène offbeat en 2008 avec la sortie de son Ep « Preparation ». S'en suit une série de collaborations avec plusieurs beatmakers de renommées (Devonwho (US), Ichiro (JP), Ad Bourke (It), …) nommée « YoggyOne & Friends »…
Apres différentes expériences au sein de plusieurs formations, et d'importantes dates de concert, il revient nous présenter un nouveau live pour accompagner la sortie de son prochain album « Canopée », aux teintes soulful, post dubstep , offbeat, influencées par des artistes comme James Blake ou encore Flying Lotus.
Toujours avec une volonté de jouer live ses morceaux, YoggyOne sautera de solos au claviers, aux rythmiques boiteuses sur ses pads, au micro pour des vocalises bourrées d’effets. Un set presque tout en improvisation !
Les tracks s’enchainent, les beats se redressent et les BPM s’accélèrent pour petit à petit virer « club » toute en gardant cette pâte reconnaissable au croisement de ces différents univers…
