Melody that delights the Royals... delivered by a pop princess.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were treated to a surprise performance by Kylie Minogue at St. James's Palace on Wednesday, ahead of their Diamond Jubilee tour next month.

The beloved Australian singer wore a little black dress and captivated the audience with tunes like Locomotion, On A Night Like This and I Believe In You.

Famous faces and dignitaries from Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand - the three nations Charles and Camilla will be visiting - were also present.

Camilla has never been to Australia, and was jokingly called a "naughty Duchess" by the Australian pop star, who's celebrating a 25-year singing career with the release of her 12th album.

Australian musician Rolf Harris ensured the Duchess will find her visit amusing.

SOUNDBITE Broadcaster and artist, Rolf Harris, saying (English):

"I'm sure that she will love it. It's a fantastic country and the variety of things you can see, you can go to see, Oolaroo (Ayers Rock) obviously, all the wild stuff, the kangaroos."

Kylie later called the royal performance a "terrifying but great" experience.
