Whitney Houston was given a final sendoff by the Grammys with Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson and others teaming up to honor the late star.

Before the star-studded slate of performances, celebs on the red carpet paid homage to Houston and talked about their favorite Whitney hits.

SOUNDBITE: Britney Spears, singer, saying (English):

"Probably 'I Have Nothing' because that's the one I sang to sign my deal with my record deal."

Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson was awarded a Grammy in 2009 and was handed her statue by Houston.

SOUNDBITE: Jennifer Hudson, singer, saying (English):

"Getting it from Whitney Houston, one, it was a surprise and two, getting it from her was unbelievable."

The tribute comes towards the end of a year in which the music world was rocked by Houston's sudden death in February.

She was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub from what authorities called an accidental drowning brought on by cocaine use and heart disease.

The one-hour special will air on U.S. network CBS on November 16.
