Turkey scrambles fighter plans to Syrian border

Tensions continue along the Turkish border with Syria.

On Friday Turkey scrambled two fighter planes along the border after a Turkish town was bombed by a Syrian military helicopter.

There has been intense fighting between rebels and Syrian government forces in Syrian towns near Turkey -- an area strongly opposed to

President Bashar al-Assad's rule.

Fighting along Turkey's 560-mile border with Syria has repeatedly spilled over into Turkish territory in the past week,. The Turkish army has responded in kind to gunfire and mortar shells fired from Syria.
