The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has urged upon the United Nations, the OIC and the international community at large to take serious notice of the sacrilegious film and disparaging caricatures about the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He warned that the world might be engulfed in the flames of a third world war if the international community failed to take notice and the provocations of the Muslims continued unstoppably.
He made a passionate appeal to the people protesting against the sacrilegious film not to hurt anyone or damage their property if their protestations of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) were true even in the smallest degree.
He was addressing a peaceful protest gathering organized by Muttahida Bainul Muslimeen Forum today against the mocking film. People belonging to different schools of thought, religious scholars, elders and women attended the peaceful gathering. People from Sikh, Hindu and Christian community were also present in the demonstration.
He said that the film was terribly offensive to the people who look upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as the mercy for the worlds. It was because of this that Muslims throughout the world were carrying out protests.
He expressed great sorrow on the incidents of torching vehicles, damaging of public property, banks and firing during the demonstrations held in different cities against the wicked film. He said that protest must be held against the evil film, but it was not right to kill our own people, damage our own properties, and to resort to looting and arson.
He questioned if this was the love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Many police personnel and innocent people had died, and a number of public and private properties had been damaged. He said that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) was sent as a mercy for all the worlds, and he had brought the message of peace and brotherhood.
He asked if we have expressed our love to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) by violent protests and damaging public properties, or we had ourselves belittled the teachings of the Holy Propjet (PBUH).
He said that attacking police, law-enforcing agencies and foreign missions and damaging public property gave no solution to the problem. He said that the solution to the problem was in peaceful protests.
He urged upon heads of Muslim states to raise their voice for truth even if their governments are wrapped up. He asked President Asif Zardari to raise the issue in his address to the General Assembly of the United Nations and inform the world about the sentiments of the nation.
He praised the religious scholars of the Muttahida Bainul Muslimeen Forum and participants on holding a peaceful protest. He prayed for the people who lost their lives in the wave of violent protests in the country.
