ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Bling it on! Sari dresses and gowns with Indian beading and threadwork gave Marchesa's Spring 2013 runway show the look of a Bollywood movie set on Wednesday (September 12) at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in New York.
The collection was dripping with royal embellishments - gold and silver beads, metallic threadwork, pearls, crystals and alabaster stones.
Designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman of New York-based Marchesa told Reuters TV about how they came up with the theme for their Spring 2013 collection.
"We were listening to the Beatles, and that led us to thinking about their visit to India in the '60s," Craig said.
"Yes, we were thinking about the '60s, and we were thinking about the impact on Western culture with Indian culture," Chapman finished her partner.
Tyra Banks, TV host and model, is an avid fan of Chapman's designs.
"Usually when you have on a gown, you're uncomfortable all night, you want to go home, you're dying. With her I am like, 'Wow. I feel so comfortable in her clothes, and it supported me, and I didn't have to wear a bra," Banks said.
MBFW runs through Thursday (September 13) at Lincoln Center and other venues in New York City.
