The Newshour Direct: Navin Jindal Takes Questions on COALGATE charges (Part 2 of 2)

With his company Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) caught in a row over coal block allocation, Congress industrialist MP Naveen Jindal loses his cool, hits out at media persons. Jindal reacting to allegations that his company received out of turn favours in coal block allocations, defends himself. Also, reacting to allegations that his power company earned huge profits by selling power at market rates when he had access to coal at subsidised rates, he denies any wrong doing. JSPL is one of the companies being reviewed by Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) for a possible deallocation, as it could not start production at Jitpur coal block in Jharkhand as per the stipulated time-frame. The government auditor CAG in its recent report statedthat undue benefits to the tune of Rs 1.86 lakh crore were extended to private firms on account of allocation of 57 mines to them without auction.
