The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine, arrived in Singapore on Tuesday (September 11), the first stop of their Asia Pacific tour.

The couple visited Singapore's Botanic Gardens, who named an orchid after the royal couple calling it "Vanda William Catherine".

Later, crowds gathered to greet the pair at Raffles Hotel, named after Singapore's founder, British statesman Sir Stamford Raffles.

The Asia Pacific tour is part of celebrations marking the 60-year reign of Prince William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, as the British monarchy seeks to maintain their relevance in a changing world.

The Duke and Duchess will be in Singapore until Thursday (September 13) when they are expected to travel to Malaysia.

They will also visit the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
