The grandson of the owner of Red Bull - the famous energy drink from Thailand - has been arrested for the hit and run death of a police officer in Bangkok.

Police say 27-year old Vorayuth Yoovidhaya hit a police officer with his Ferrari, then dragged the body for several metres before driving away.

Local media report that police traced the crime back to Vorayuth's home by following a trail of engine oil left on the road.

Vorayuth's grand father, the late billionaire Chaleo Yoovidhaya , founded the well known beverage company.

He passed away earlier this year and was ranked 205th on Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people.
