U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday (September 4) met Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during her visit to Indonesia.

Yudhoyono and Clinton discussed the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the U.S. as well as the ongoing tensions in the South China Sea.

Indonesia, the region's biggest country and one seen as neutral given it has no claim to the disputed waters, has taken on the role of mediator.

Clinton arrives in Beijing, China later Tuesday.
