New police captain helps Mexican town fight crime
  • 12 years ago
Until last year, the town of Guadalupe was fully in the grip of one of the most ruthless criminal gangs in Mexico.

More than 200 homicides were reported last year in a city of 700,000.

But crime rates have dropped by more than 40 per cent in the past year following the appointment of a new police captain.

Al Jazeera's Rachel Levine reports from Guadalupe.
