STORY: Republicans were finally set to begin the business of their convention Tuesday (August 28), after it was delayed a day by Tropical Storm Isaac.

Actor Jon Voight, a supporter of the GOP, visited the convention floor before events got underway.

"It's important that anyone is here for Mitt Romney because he's a fellow who can help turn this thing around. We're in a lot of trouble economically, politically, militarily, and somebody's got to right the ship and bring us back to who we are, and America has been a force in the world that has been a force for good, and we've been sitting on the sidelines," Voight said.

New Jersey governor Chris Christie, Callista and Newt Gingrich were seen preparing for their convention appearances.

Also providing their support to the GOP was band "3 Doors Down."
