Floodwaters in Australia are threatening to deluge towns in southern Queensland.

An 18-month-old toddler drowned on Sunday and the Balonne River is expected to reach an all time peak on Tuesday.

Authorities have called for an evacuation of the town of St George, which has a population of 2,500 people.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Brisbane.
