Cricketing legend Basil D'Oliveira dies at 80.
The South African-born former England sportsman, Basil D'Oliveira known affectionately around the world as "Dolly" has died.
He played 44 tests for England after emigrating due to lack of opportunities for non-white players back home. He was a member of the England squad whose 1968 tour of South Africahad to be cancelled after the government there refused to accept his selection in the visiting party.
The incident marked the beginning of South Africa's isolation in the sport that would last until 1991.
D'Oliveira suffered Parkinson's disease in later life and died at the age of 80.
