China firms vow to curb harmful internet data

The heads of China's largest internet companies have vowed to stop the spread of so-called "harmful information".

They made the promise after attending a three-day workshop put on by the government.

Nearly 40 companies including e-commerce giant Alibaba and search engine Baidu say they will "curb internet rumours."

It's part of many steps made by Beijing to tighten its control on the internet.
