Shia LaBeouf joined castmate Guy Pearce on the red carpet Wednesday night (August 22) for the Los Angeles premiere of "Lawless," a period action drama based in the Prohibition-era.

"Lawless" is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant's family in his novel "The Wettest County in the World," the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation's most notorious crime wave.

LeBeouf, who plays brother Jack Bondurant in the film, told Reuters that he jumped at the chance to work with a cast, that beside Pearce, also included Tom hardy, Gary Oldman and Jessica Chastain.

SOUNDBITE Shia LeBeouf saying (English):

"For me it is the real life "Avengers," said LeBeouf. "We are surrounded by real life super heroes, they all have their own magic power. It was really cool and a wonderful opportunity."

Directed by John Hillcoat and written by Nick Cave, "Lawless" opens in theaters August 29.
