Qais AbdulKareem, a DFLP member of the PLC in the West Bank reflects on the effects of the attacks of September 11, 2001, on the United States, in an interview with Al Jazeera.

"I think the main problem is that the Bush administration at that time took the attack on 9/11 as a pretext to further their plans to invade Iraq and escalate the war in Afghanistan in order to put into effect the previously drawn up plans for these invasions. This extenuated the conflict between the US and the Arab and Muslim populations and discredited the position of the US in the eyes of the Arab and Muslim public opinion."
