Men and women cling precariously to the side of trains about to depart from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
They are among thousands leaving the capital to celebrate the Eid al-fitr holiday with their families outside the city as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan ends.
But it's not just trains that are overbooked and overflowing.
Ferries were also packed to capacity with holiday seekers heading to visit their home villages.
Those unable to get berths, chased after the ferries in wooden rowboats, in hopes of boarding down the river.
(SOUNDBITE) (Bengali) POLY, FERRY PASSENGER, SAYING:
"I am going to my village to celebrate Eid with my relatives, there is a huge rush to get on the ferries so I have taken this boat to board a ferry."
Eid al-fitr is one of Islam's biggest holidays and will be celebrated by Muslims around the globe starting Sunday.
