U.S. aircraft crashes in test flight.
File video from earlier this summer of the U.S. Waverider -- an aircraft designed to travel at six times the speed of sound.
Launched from the B-52 bomber, it spent 31 seconds in flight before crashing over the Pacific Oean on Tuesday.
The military has been eyeing the Waverider as part of a plan to develop high-speed cruise missiles.
The aircraft, which can travel from New York to London in under an hour, reportedly had a problem with a rocket booster.
