Death sentence for militants in Egypt

An Egyptian court sentences 14 Islamist militants to death Tuesday for killing policemen and soldiers during an attack on a police station in North Sinai last year.
The ruling could add to tension in the turbulent region bordering Israel. It has been the theatre of clashes between security forces and militants since 16 border guards were killed earlier this month in an attack blamed on jihadi groups.
The attack on the police station in July 2011 left an army officer, five policemen and a one civilian dead.
