British fans go wild watching the London 2012 Olympic Games... but these supporters have an extra reason to celebrate - they're from Yorkshire.

Team GB may be enjoying a hugely successful Games, but athletes from Yorkshire have been making residents of the northern English county particularly proud.

Jessica Ennis, who hails from the city of Sheffield, has become the face of the London Olympics after her success in the heptathlon.

Medals for cyclists Lizzie Armitstead and Ed Clancy and the triathalete Brownlee brothers have ensured that this is an Olympics to be proud of in Yorkshire.

In fact, with five golds, two silvers and three bronzes, Yorkshire would be 11th in the overall medals table if it were a country.

Ennis said she was full of pride at her county's performance.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) OLYMPIC HEPTATHALON CHAMPION, JESSICA ENNIS:

"Obviously I'm very very proud and really surprised that we're doing so well and that so many athletes are from Yorkshire, it's just a brilliant feeling to be from such a great part of the country and have such successful sportsmen and women, so yeah very proud."

The county's performances have made a vital contribution to the success of Team GB.

Great Britain are sitting third in the overall medals table, enjoying their best Games for over 100 years.
