Katy Perry's poised composure belied her emotional return to Sao Paolo.

The U.S. singer was in Brazil's second largest city on her global tour to promote her documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me".

Wearing a floor-lengthed silver dress, the "Fireworks" singer paid homage to the South American country.

SOUNDBITE: U.S Pop Singer, Katy Perry, saying (English):

"In Sao Paulo is a really pivotal moment where they were shouting 'we love you, Katy' or 'Katy, we love you'... that was one of the hardest shows I've ever done because it was a very difficult time in my life so I feel like I'm paying them back."

The heightened sentiments were echoed by fans.

SOUNDBITE: Katy Perry's Fan, Fabiana Lupi, saying (Portuguese):

"It is something that comes from inside you, it's absurd, it's love, a lot of love. I'm feeling a lot of emotions."

The film chronicles Perry's religious upbringing, the struggles of becoming a pop star, and her marriage break-up with actor Russell Brand.

The movie is out now.
