Iran convicts US 'hikers' as spies

Iran has sentenced two American hikers, detained in the Islamic republic, to eight years in prison on charges of "illegal entry" and "espionage", reported Iran's state television website.

They were arrested more than two years ago and have been charged with spying and illegal entry.

The men say they were hiking along the Iraq-Iran border and strayed into Iran by accident.
