Let the bells ring out for London

'The bells, the bells' is a phrase normally associated with Paris, but today it was London's turn as chimes rang out across the city, country and British embassies all over the globe ahead of the official opening of London 2012.

Parliament granted special permission for Big Ben to ring outside its regular working hours and at 8.15am cet the bongs rang out.
