Fake-blood stained flag protest at Eiffel Tower

A dozen demonstrators opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime gathered in Paris on Friday (July 27) to call on the international community to act to stop the bloodshed in the war-torn country.

Two demonstrators climbed a column installed under the Eiffel tower and unfurled a giant Syrian opposition flag stained with fake blood.

The "France Syrie Democratie" (France Syria Democracy) group said it wanted the international community to prevent allies of President Assad, Iran and Russia, from providing weapons to the regime.

Police officers intervened peacefully shortly after the action to move demonstrators on from the tourist hotspot.
