Fashionista's flock to Colombia

Colombiamoda gets off to a sizzling start.

Intimates brand Leonisa helped kick of Colombia's fashion week with a revealing look at their new collection.

Over the course of three days 19 designers, 11 commercial clothing lines and three fashion schools will present their latest designs.

Colombian designer Lina Cantillo, who creates clothes catered to males, dedicated her line to men everywhere.

"This is a time for men. It's a time I share with them. I am one hundred percent a woman, but inside of me there is a very important, very special man. That's why I'm doing this, for all of them."

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos spoke about how important fashion is for the country's economy.

"The catwalk parade of dresses is creating employment. This industry is generating a lot of employment. The dressmaking sector might be one of the sectors that generates most employment."

Nearly 7,000 people attended the first day of shows, a 51 percent increase from last year.

Event organizers hope to generate approximately $95 million U.S. in sales during Colombiamoda, which ends on July 26.
