Bahrain medics' retrial adjourned

The 20 Bahraini medics on trial for allegedly inciting anti-government protests during the kingdom's bout with the Arab Spring will have their retrial adjourned until January 9.

The doctors, nurses, and paramedics were initially tried and convicted in the military-run National Safety Court on September 28 on a number of charges, including incitement to overthrow the government.

They were given sentences ranging from five to 15 years each.

However, the prosecution dropped confessions taken under duress and introduced new evidence against the defendants - necessitating a new trial.

Al Jazeera's Mohamed Vall reports from Manama.
