Serb leader on hunger strike to force vote

About 50,000 people have joined an opposition rally in Belgrade, the Serbian capital, calling on Boris Tadic, the president, to announce early elections.

Tomislav Nikolic, the Conservative opposition leader, asked his supporters to join him in a hunger strike, and several thousand people said they would.
