Fires rage in Russia's Urals and Siberia

STORY: Authorities in the cities and villages in Russia's Western Siberia and Ural mountains region announced a state of emergency as fires rage in the fields and forests.
Forest fires caused by abnormally high temperatures already took over more then four thousand hectares around the Siberian regional center Tomsk, suffocating the city with smoke and causing multiple flight delays at the local airport.
The number of forest fires in Chelyabinsk region have doubled in the recent days, covering an area of up to 15 thousand hectares, which is much more than last year, local emergency officials said. The temperatures in the regions rose up 40 Celsius without a single drop of rain in almost a month, exceeding the norm by 10 degrees and causing a heavy drought.
Authorities have asked local residents to refrain from visiting forests and banned lighting any camp fires in forest areas.
