Syria has dismissed reports it carried out a massacre last week.
The foreign ministry concedes that the army killed 37 fighters in the Hama town. Jihad Makdissi, foreign ministry spokesman, maintains that the forces of Bashar al-Assad did not use tanks, artillery, or planes in what some called a "massacre" last week.
But a Spanish journalist is supporting an activist account that more than 200 people were killed.
Al Jazeera's Anita McNaught reports.
