Mazda is marketing new, efficient technology for its next generation of cars under the umbrella name of SKYAKTIV. The engines, transmissions, chassis and car bodies are designed to reduce fuel use and CO2 emissions. Mazda says the innovations will deliver 30 percent better fuel economy by 2015, thanks to light-weight construction. In 2012 the CX-5 SUV will be the first model with the new technology to go on sale in Europe.
