Relief for Sri Lanka drought may come too late

People from Sri Lanka's dry zone are no strangers to water shortages.
But, they say that a drought which has wiped out almost 80 per cent of crops in some districts and which is now also threatening the the drinking water supply, is "unusually bad".
While the government has commitmented to help farmers in the region, promising to help dig up to 5,000 new wells, locals say such relief may come too late.
