The Spanish soccer team left Kiev on Monday (July 2), just hours after making history as the only national side to win two consecutive European Championships with a World Cup sandwiched in between.
The team left Kiev's central Zhuliany Airport about 12 hours after their 4-0 thrashing of Italy at Kiev's Euro 2012 Olympic Stadium.
Spain have set new standards on their way to an unprecedented third straight major title for a European team and, with a relatively young squad, must be firm favourites to win their second World Cup in South America in two years' time.
The team was expected to arrive on home soil in Madrid at 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT).
