Co-stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone attended the German premiere of "The Amazing Spider-Man" in Berlin on Wednesday (June 20).

The film hits the big screens in Germany on June 28 and this time it's The Social Network's Andrew Garfield in the lead role, not Tobey Maguire.

Unfazed by the inevitable comparisons, Garfield was happy to take on the challenge of a character he feels has an interesting background.

SOUNDBITE Andrew Garfield saying (English):

"Well I think he has the heroic impulse before he has the power he later gets. I think that what set him apart as well is that he doesn't have the authority to make the change that he would like to. I think that sets him apart, he sets out good, and he wishes he had more power to use."

The sequel to Raimi's first three movies focuses on Peter Parker's quest to understand the disappearance of his parents, rather than the superhero dimension of the story.

The Amazing Spider-Man opens in Germany on June 28, ahead of its July 3 release in the U.S.
