Tibetan spiritual leader tours Britain

Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Wednesday said change in China is inevitable.

He made the comments during an interview while on tour in Britain.

(SOUNDBITE)(English) EXILED TIBETAN SPIRITUAL LEADER, DALAI LAMA, SAYING:

"Overall China, very powerful nation but still part of the world, so China they have to go along the world trends - that's democracy, liberty, individual freedom, like that. So China, sooner or later they have to go that way, they cannot go backwards."

REPORTER: "What will force them, what will make them go that way"

"The Chinese people themselves."

Beijing has warned of "serious consequences" and even reportedly threatened to relocate its Olympic team from the northern British city of Leeds in protest of the Dalai Lama's meetings with British officials.

Later in the day, the Dalai Lama met Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.
