Car bomb wounds two in Damascus

The bomb went off in a car park near the Imam al-Sadr Hospital.

Syrian state television reported that two people were wounded in the blast.

Witnesses said a suspected suicide bomber was trying to enter a street where a Shi'ite shrine is located.

But they said security guards stopped him, and he instead entered the car park and detonated the device.

A pro-democracy uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government erupted in March of last year.

The United Nations says Assad's forces have killed at least 10,000 people since then, but Syrian officials instead blame what they call "terrorists" for killing hundreds of soldiers and police.
