STORY: Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and award-winning actress, released a public service announcement (PSA) on the occasion of World Refugee Day. In 2011, record numbers of newly displaced refugees fled their home countries, with forced displacement levels remaining high at over 42 million.
"Every minute 8 people are forced to flee their homes due to war or persecution. No one chooses to be a refugee," she says, urging people not to forget the plight of millions of forcibly displaced people in the world.
World Refugee Day is June 20.
