Mexico City was gripped with Bieber fever for a free outdoor concert.

More than 200,000 fans packed Mexico City's iconic Zocalo Square on Monday (June 11) to watch the Canadian teen idol do what he does best.

The Mexican capital was one of a handful of chosen cities to promote his much anticipated third album "Believe".

Heavy security was marched in for a news conference which took place ahead of the concert.

Bieber Beliebers are some of the most die-hard fans in the world, but when asked who he would be fanatical about, Bieber said:

SOUNDBITE: Singer, Justin Bieber, saying (English):

"There is no artist that I really like that much but its crazy that I have so many fans that would appreciate me that much. I wish I could really love somebody that much but I feel like if Michael Jackson was still around I think that I would definitely want to see him."

Some fans arrived days before the concert kicked off, with others travelling from all across the country to watch the superstar.

SOUNDBITE: Justin Bieber Fan, Julisa Reyna, saying (Spanish) :

"For me he's an inspiration. When I think that I can't do something I think of 'Never Say Never' because he taught us this, to never give up and keep following your dreams."

Bieber's fans couldn't get enough of the singer and many were appreciative of his efforts to bring his music to the Mexican masses.

SOUNDBITE: Fan, Andrea Guerrero, saying (Spanish):

"Justin I love you. Thank you because it (concert) was free, the concert was great."

"Believe" is set for release in Australia and Germany on Friday (June 15) and globally in the following days.
