Outcry over the cost of living in Jordan.

Hundreds take to the streets of Amman Friday to protest the government decision to raise prices.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE ISLAMIC ACTION FRONT, HAMZA MANSOUR, SAYING:

"We say the government abandoned its duty and has only the pockets of citizens to pay for its debts."

Jordan's government is under pressure to trim its budget deficit and has raised prices in the energy sector, including an almost almost 20 percent hike in premium petrol costs.
