Last year, violence between rival ethnic groups in Kyrgyzstan left hundreds of people dead.

Tensions continue, with allegations that security forces in the south have unfairly targeted minority Uzbeks with routine abuses of power.

Rights groups back up claims of a campaign of intimidation, but Kyrgz security forces refute the allegations.
