South Sudan accuses North of attack

South Sudan has accused the North's army of launching an attack on one of its military bases in a bid to derail its January referendum on self-determination.
Southern officials say the peace deal between the south and north has been breached by the recent attack, raising tensions between the two sides.
But Khartoum denies the allegations and also accuses the south of violating the 2005 agreement by supporting rebel groups in Darfur.
The growing tensions come amid widespread fears that disputes over the south's independence vote could erupt into another civil war.
