Briton faces drug smuggling charges in Bali

Lindsay June Sandiford, in the orange t-shirt, is paraded into a news conference on the Indonesian Island of Bali.

The 55-year-old British national was arrested on May 19 after allegedly trying to smuggle $2.6 million worth of cocaine into the country.

In front of scores of reporters, Indonesian police laid out the alleged haul, which tipped the scales at almost five kilograms.

Police say Sandiford hid the cocaine in the lining of her suitcase.

Indonesian police have vowed to crack down on illegal drug smuggling into Bali, which they have said has become a hub for trafficking.

Smugglers face a possible death sentence in Bali, if convicted.
