Every year more than half a million women across the world die while giving birth, most of them from
developing countries.

In Haiti, women suffer from the highest maternal mortality rate in the Western hemisphere. Violence, political chaos and insufficient international aid have hampered even the most basic healthcare.

Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo travelled to Port-au-Prince, to see how expecting mothers are coping. Warning: this piece contains graphic images of child birth.
