Deadly quake shakes N. Italy.

Reduced to rubble.

This is the aftermath of a magnitude 6.0 earthquake that rocked northern Italy on Sunday, leaving at least three dead.

The tremors damaged historic buildings here in the town of San Felice Del Panaro.

Among them, was this 14th century castle.

This amateur video shows firefighters battling a blaze that broke out after the quake, which was followed by several aftershocks.

The tremors also levelled a factory in the countryside, killing one worker and leaving his family searching for answers.

"(His brother) arrived at 6:35 and gave us the news. He told us "Mom, Nicola is dead". I was looking out of the window telling myself 'he will show up now, he will show up now'."

Rescue workers are continuing to comb through collapsed buildings across a wide swath of Northern Italy, and there are fears more people could be trapped under rubble.

The quake - centered in the Po River Valley - was the strongest to hit the country in three years.
