Violence rages in Syria

Amateur video out of Syria shows bodies wrapped in cloth inside coffins.

The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes amid reports that seven civilians were killed Sunday when Syrian security forces moved into a village west of Hama burning houses and arresting dozens of people, according to activists.

Opposition activists say the Sunni Muslim village, had been a flashpoint for regular demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad.

Video out of Aleppo appears to show demonstrators coming under fire.

Violence has continued despite a ceasefire declared a month ago by international envoy Kofi Annan and the presence of a U.N. monitoring mission now with about 150 observers on the ground.

More footage, purportedly from Homs, shows signs of more shelling. Smoke blankets parts of the city which has been a stronghold for rebel forces.

Footage out of Idlib shows a funeral service. The United Nations says more than 9,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began more than a year ago.

The government says it is fighting a terrorist attempt to divide Syria. It said twin suicide bomb attacks in Damascus Wednesday that killed 55 people were the work of foreign-backed Islamist militants.
